Pick Up Your Car at Podgorica Airport (TGD)
Podgorica Airport handles more international routes than Tivat and stays busier year-round. It sits 65 km from Budva — about an hour's drive, mostly on good dual carriageway. The airport code TGD nods to the city's former name, Titograd.

A new terminal opened in 2006, and the original building now serves as an aviation history display. The airport punches above its weight — it once won ACI Europe's award for best airport under 1 million passengers.
Collecting Your Car
We meet you at the arrivals hall. No shuttle bus, no queue at a counter. Your car is in the car park right outside. Clear customs, sign the paperwork, and you are on the road. The drive to Budva passes Lake Skadar — keep an eye out for pelicans and pull over at one of the viewpoints.
Distances from TGD
The airport is 12 km south of Podgorica city centre.
- Podgorica centre: 12 km (taxi around €10)
- Budva: 65 km (approximately 1 hour via Lake Skadar road)
- Kotor: 80 km (1 hour 15 minutes via the bay)
- Sveti Stefan: 75 km (just over 1 hour heading south-west)
Routes and Airlines
Daily Belgrade service runs year-round. Seasonal direct flights connect to London, Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Vienna, Budapest, and more. Budget carriers make TGD the cheaper entry point for many riviera holidays.
The Terminal
Eight departure gates, two arrival gates, a cafe, duty-free, and car hire desks in the arrivals hall. It is small enough that you will not get lost.
Despite its size, Podgorica Airport has taken home the ACI Europe award for the best airport in its category. Efficient processing and friendly staff get consistent praise.
