Every booking on this platform includes free third-party liability cover. That is the base level, fine for careful driving on the coast road inside town. Paid upgrades are chosen at checkout, each layering more of the risk on to the supplier and less on to you.
The four tiers below are the choices in front of you when you check out any car. Prices vary by car category and season; live daily rates are shown on the checkout page for the exact car and dates you have picked.

What no tier covers
None of the four tiers cover the situations below. Read the list once so nothing surprises you at drop-off.
- Damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Damage to the interior (cigarette burns, spills, torn upholstery)
- Off-road driving or driving on unpaved tracks
- Traffic fines and parking penalties, plus the supplier admin fee
- Any damage caused by an unregistered second driver
- Loss of the keys or the paperwork left in the car
Rental rules worth knowing
- Minimum age varies by car category. Entry cars are available from 18 with one year of driving experience; higher categories start from 21 or 23.
- A second registered driver is normally free; a small fee applies on some suppliers.
- Fuel is returned as it was received. Full-to-full is the norm; the supplier confirms on the checkout page.
- Cross-border driving is a paid permit at three tiers, chosen at checkout. Wrong-tier driving voids the cover for that leg.
- The car is walked at pickup and drop-off. Existing damage is marked on the sheet before you drive away.
- A refundable deposit is held at pickup on most cars; the Full Coverage Plus tier waives it.
Why cover matters on coast roads
Two situations catch first-time visitors: the switchback inland roads and the coastal potholes. The mountain climb up to Cetinje or Lovćen runs tight hairpins with unforgiving kerbs; a scraped alloy on a rental is an expensive way to remember the trip. The coast road south to Ulcinj carries potholes in the shoulder that punish a slow drift; Full Coverage removes the argument about who pays.
On a cross-border push, the Full Coverage Plus tier is worth the difference for a different reason: the deposit sits on your card for weeks after drop-off if there is any dispute, and waiving it removes that whole chain.
Insurance FAQ
Everything renters ask about cover before booking: what the free tier includes, what the paid ones add, and what to do if the deposit is charged after drop-off.
What is included with the free Minimum cover?
Third-party liability only, plus a refundable deposit taken at pickup. Any damage to the car itself is charged against the deposit; anything above the deposit is billed after drop-off. The deposit is released back to your card within a few days if the car comes back clean.
Do I have to pay for the recommended Full Coverage Plus?
No, you can rent any car with the free Minimum. Full Coverage Plus is a paid upgrade selected at checkout; it waives the deposit and removes the argument about who pays if something happens.
Can I add cover after I have picked the car up?
Not in most cases. The tier is confirmed on the checkout page before payment; adding a higher tier at pickup depends on the supplier and is not something to rely on. Choose the tier when you book.
Does my personal credit card insurance count?
It sometimes does. Some Visa and American Express cards include rental cover, but the terms vary and Montenegro is not always inside the covered region. If you plan to lean on a card policy, get the exact policy summary in writing before you travel.
What happens if the deposit is charged and I dispute it?
The supplier notifies you before charging, with photos of the damage. If you dispute, the platform handles arbitration between you and the supplier. Photos taken by you at pickup are the strongest evidence in a dispute.
Is cross-border driving covered?
Yes, when you buy the matching permit tier at checkout. Three tiers cover the neighbours only, the neighbours plus Albania and Kosovo, or the full EU plus Switzerland. Choosing the wrong tier voids the cover for that leg of the trip.
Is roadside assistance included?
Yes, on Basic, Full Coverage and Full Coverage Plus. The Minimum tier includes only third-party liability; a call-out is chargeable. The supplier's number is on the voucher and the dashboard sticker.
What if I get a parking ticket or a speed camera fine?
Traffic fines are always your own responsibility, not the rental. The supplier receives the notice and pays the fine, then bills your card with a small administration fee. Cover tiers do not touch it.
The tier picker is on the checkout page for the exact car and dates you choose.
